Is Ronda Rousey's time in WWE over?
The former UFC star and three-time women's champion fueled more speculation as to whether her WWE career is coming to a close in an Instagram post Monday.
Rousey lost to Shayna Baszler in an MMA rules match at SummerSlam Saturday after Baszler was able to make Rousey pass out, ending their feud that began when Baszler turned on her tag team partner at Money in the Bank. Several outlets reported Rousey would be taking a break or leaving WWE following the match, which Rousey appears to confirm in a post directed at Baszler.
“@qosbaszler you were the reason I got into this business… Now I got no reason to stay," Rousey posted on Instagram.

Ronda Rousey WWE career
Rousey has had an up and down WWE career since she joined the company in 2018, making her debut at Royal Rumble and her first match at WrestleMania 34. The following year, she went on to main event WrestleMania 35 with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, the first time women headlined WWE's biggest pay-per-view. After some time away in 2021, Rousey returned in 2022 and won the women's Royal Rumble.
"The Baddest Woman On The Planet" has won the SmackDown Women's Championship twice and the Raw Women's Championship once. She recently held the Women's Tag Team Championship with Baszler.
Ronda Rousey WWE frustrations
While she was praised for her work in the ring early in her WWE career, Rousey has since been criticized by fans for allegedly being handed several opportunities rather than working for them, something Baszler mentioned in her recent feud with Rousey. She has also criticized the scripted nature of WWE, calling it fake and standing by her comments in April 2020.
There was a moment in her Survivor Series match with Shotzi in November where there was a botched DDT, resulting in WWE fans wanting Rousey fired. She later responded to the backlash in a YouTube video, apologizing for it and wanting to keep Shotzi safe.
"Apparently, I deserve to be fired or burned. It reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail when they were like, 'Burn her,'" she said. "There weren't calls to fire anybody when Madcap Moss and Big E were spiked on their heads, and they were like, burn her anyway. I'm so sorry that I was so concerned with keeping someone safe that I made the bump look bad."
