Nicole Kidman is speaking out after the death of her mother, Janelle Kidman.
On Thursday, Kidman, 54, and her sister Antonia Kidman remembered their mother, who died at age 84, with a series of Instagram photos from their mom's younger years. In one, a young Nicole Kidman and her sister are seen with their mother, and in another, the sisters are joined by their parents. Kidman's father Antony died in 2014.
"My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week," the Kidman sisters wrote in the caption of a collaborative post. "Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express."
She then thanked everyone for "respecting our privacy as we take care of each other."
Followers shared their condolences, including Robyn Lively, actress and sister to Blake Lively: "Oh Nicole I am so deeply saddened by this. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. I can't even imagine…"

At Venice Film Festival on Saturday, Kidman was awarded the prestigious Volpi Cup for best actress for her new movie "Babygirl." But during the awards ceremony, the film's director, Halina Reijn, shared that Kidman couldn't be there after learning her mother had died. According to a statement read by Reijn, Kidman found out about the death of her "beautiful, brave" mom shortly after arriving in Venice.

"I'm in shock and I have to go to my family," the statement said. "But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me."
The "Big Little Lies" star added, "My heart is broken."
In 2022, she shared in an interview with NPR's "Fresh Air" that she was in Australia to take care of her mom, who was dealing with health issues. In August 2020, Kidman shared a photo on Instagram of herself hugging her mom after they reunited for the first time in eight months amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a 2018 birthday tribute, Kidman said her mom "loved me, guided me and taught me and I am so blessed to have you," and she told People last year that her mother is still "so involved in what I wear."
